Compare and contrast Gatsby's social class with that of Tom and Daisy
Buchanan. How does geography contribute to the definition of social class in the Great Gatsby?
There is a definite difference between the social classes of Tom and Daisy comprised to Gatsby. Tom and Daisy live in the nicer aria of the eggs. They are the people who live around the people who have money and live nice. The probably also live with a stricter set of people who think that things only should happen a certain way. They could also be considered the better class. Gatsby lives in the more run down part called the west egg. He also kind of stands out with his really nice huge house compared to the less classy houses. He also is with people who party a lot more. He also seems to surrounds himself with notable people. There is an example at one of his parties there is a well known actress and her director there. So Gatsby is over all just in the less classy part of the rich. He is more of what some would call new money besides families who have had a lot of money and been a part of society for longer.
What is Nick Carraway's role in the novel? Consider Nick's father's advice in chapter one:
"Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone, just remember that all the people in this world
haven't had the advantages that you've had." Does telling the story from Nick's point of
view make it more believable? Nick Carraway’s role in the novel is the narrator yet also he is a main character. Because everything comes from nick it can be a slightly skewed point of view. Yet he can be biased he isn’t the person he is narrating about Tom, Daisy, and Gatsby with him and Jordan as kind of bystanders who are involved as friends. I also believe that the fathers quote in the begin shows that Nick is trying to not be to judgmental with what happens because he has not had all the opportunities people have had and he has not been raised in the same way. So even though Gatsby may have gotten his wealth in the same way as some people, especially Tom, because not everyone was able to be raised with plenty of money and was not lucky enough to inherit a large sum of money. So while reading we need to keep in mind what the people were given as opportunities and what they are trying to obtain.

Gatsby is trying to recapture his love with Daisy. At least for part of the book he is successful at rekindling that love and is able to have Daisy as part of his life. Yet as the book moves on and at the end I don’t believe that it is possible for Gatsby to completely rekindle his love with Daisy because there is to much between Daisy and tom for him to come between them. For me I would not mind revisiting my summer trip to Europe in 2007. I would like to if I had the chance to go back to the places we visited and hopefully get over the culture shock a bit faster and truly enjoy the cities we visited. So like me and Gatsby while I would like to go back to something I know I physically can go to the place and people yet it would not be the same and I would not be able to have the same experience cause I have changed.
